Google’s AI Chatbot Bard helps people create code, debug and more

US tech giant Google has brought new features to its AI chatbot Bard to help users with programming and software development tasks such as code generation, code debugging and code explanation. Bard is now available in over 20 programming languages, including C++, Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, and TypeScript.

Bard allows users to export Python code to Google Colab without copying and pasting. According to Google, the chatbot can also help with the writing functions of Google Sheets. In addition to generating code, Bard can explain code snippets, making it useful for those learning to program for the first time.

If users see an error message or receive code that doesn’t work as expected, they can ask Bard to fix it by saying “this code didn’t work, fix it.” However, Google cautioned that Bard is still an early experiment. and may sometimes provide inaccurate or misleading information while appearing confident.

Google stressed the importance of double-checking Bard’s responses and thoroughly testing and checking the code for errors, bugs, and vulnerabilities before relying on it. Despite its features, Bard may produce code that does not produce the expected result or may provide suboptimal or incomplete code.

Bard has helped users with a variety of everyday tasks, such as making presentations, writing lesson plans, coming up with new recipes, and planning exercise routines.
